Governing the knowledge commons
Humans are richer for the existence of Wikipedia. This amazing resource is a public good. It provides valuable information for free, and it is created by volunteers and funded by donations. It is an astonishing feat of human cooperation.
At the same time that we see triumphs like the development of Wikipedia, we are also seeing phenomena like political polarization, the spread of conspiracy theories, the deployment of misinformation, and decline in trust in political leaders.
This project uses techniques from game theory, agent based modeling, and experimental psychology, to study various domains of epistemic cooperation and to better understand how to maximize the social value of our collective knowledge and cognitive abilities.
